The Secrets of Lagarfljot - Private Tour
Starting from: Seydisfjordur, Eskifjordur
Guiding language: English
Season: All year
Duration: 6 or 8 hours
Max: 6 pax
Explore the many wonders of the Lake Lagafljot famous for the serpentine monster that is believed to reside in its depths.
We tailor make private tour itineraries depending on your specific interests and time in port. If you have enough time in port, this sightseeing tour can be combined with a hike to the beautiful Hengifoss waterfall.
Just send us an email with details of your group size, date and times, and preferences; and we will make sure you have a fantastic day in port.
We pick you up at the dock and drive to Egilsstadir, the capital of the Eastfjords, from where we take the route around the beautiful Lake Lagarfljot.
Stop for a short walk in the Hallormstadaskogur forest, look out for reindeers and enjoy views of the lake before you get to the Snaefellstofa Visitor Center, where you can learn a lot about the area. A bit ahead is the Skriduklaustur church and the cosy Klausturkaffi.
Drive back along the other side of the lake looking out for the (in)famous monster, Lagafljotsormur. Sightings have been reported since the 14th century, the latest being in 2012.
Since it is a private tour, the exact itinerary can be tailored as per your preference. You can set the pace, stop for less or more time at the sights and for photos along the route.
