Below is an 8 day / 7 night itinerary to give you a general idea of our Westfjords Hiking & Hot Pools trip starting from Keflavik:

Day 1 - Remote Strandir

Arrival at KEF airport and drive to the Strandir coastal region, the easternmost part of the Westfjords. You have plenty of geothermal hot pools to choose from. Stay two nights in the area.

Day 2 - Where the road ends

The northern part of Strandir, Arneshreppur, is one of Iceland's most remote regions and also one of the most dramatic. Follow the coastline up north past abandoned villages and driftwood beaches with a short hike up to a panoramic viewpoint over the region.
End the day with a dip in the Krossneslaug geothermal pool.

Optional add-on:
- Private super jeep transfers to help you complete the hike around the picturesque Krossnesfjall mountain, offering memorable views over the other-worldly Drangaskord peaks and the Arctic ocean.

Day 3 - Isafjordur Bay & Kaldalon

Drive around the winding fjords of Isafjardardjup, with a detour to the tranquil Kaldalon glacial creek from where you will catch a glimpse of the Drangajokull glacier. Stay two nights in the picturesque Isafjordur town, the capital of the Westfjords.

Optional add-on:
- Guided hike to Sauratindar, the highest mountain peaks of Isafjardardjup bay, which offer great panoramic views over the northern Westfjords.

Day 4 - The Hornstrandir Nature Reserve

Park the car for the day and take a guided full day hiking tour to the uninhabited Hornstrandir nature reserve, with boat transfers from Isafjordur. There are many different options including the Hornbjarg cliffs, the abandoned village of Hesteyri and the Jokulfirdir "glacier fjords".

Day 5 - Dynjandi & The Westfjords

Drive through some of Iceland's prettiest fjords - Arnarfjordur, Dyrafjordur and Onundarfjordur; enjoy spectacular mountain views, visit the majestic Dynjandi waterfall and choose from more geothermal pools on your way to the southern Westfjords. Stay two nights in the area.

Optional add-on:
- Private super jeep transfer and a guided hike to the top of Kaldbakur mountain, the highest peak in the Westfjords at 998m. The views from the top on a clear day are simply spectacular.

Day 6 - Latrabjarg & The Beaches

Spend the day hiking the dramatic Latrabjarg cliffs and exploring the many colourful nearby beaches including the orange-hued Raudasandur.

Day 7 - Dalir & Breidafjordur

Drive out of the Westfjords the Dalir valley region back towards Reykjavik, with the option to relax in some natural hot springs and enjoy the views of the countless islands of Breidafjordur bay. Overnight in Reykjavik.

Drop off rental car and departure from KEF airport.

The locations specified above are indicative. Since the exact itinerary is customised for your arrival and departure times, trails you choose, and the pace of your trip; these might change.

Self-drive:
The minimum driver age for is 20 years for smaller cars and 25 years for jeeps. Drivers must bring an international driving licence or a local driving licence written in a Roman script. Winter driving experience is strongly recommended for off-season travel.
